Invited by Beatriz Colomina and Mark Wigley, curators of the 3rd Istanbul Design Biennial, Rana Salam Studio teamed up with Turkish brand Old Java Coffee to design their pop up coffee shop hosted inside the Galata Greek Primary School where the Biennial was hosted. We wanted the visitors to experience another world through the Istanbul Biennial’s pop up coffee shop where Beirut city is translated into a design experience through its architectural buildings, landscape and people
Beirut the city of the past and the future. The city of contrast and colors. Through pattern and print, we take visitors into a wild visual world of what one might come across during a visit or a dream! Through a nightclub or a swim in the sea or pool at hotel. Big hair, big cars, big dreams. Beirut is a city with contrast and contradiction which when mixed together create a fantastic piece of design.
