As part of an initiative to raise money for Beirut-based drug-addiction charity Skoun, Iwan Maktabi commissioned designers to produce one-off carpets. Rana Salam Studio’s design included a mix-and-match features from across Beirut – including bougainvilleas, floor patterns found throughout 1930’s Beiruti homes, Islamic patterns and 1950’s terrazzo. All this came together with the word ‘Beirut’ to create the ‘Carpet of Love’.
